You Can Fly and Pearl Earrings

I saw "Girl With A Pearl Earring" the movie, the other day. I have to admit that that's the first movie I've seen that has stuck very very close to the book. I've seen movies where the author writes the screenplay but it's still not like the book, but this one, the author was involved and kept it close to the real thing. It was great. It captured the quietness of the book as well as the sexual tension between the two characters. What it didn't go through, and rightly so because it woulda been too much, was her family's struggles. Scarlett Johansen was perfect for the part and I can never say anything wrong about Colin Firth. haha. The movie is almost like making a story around how the Mona Lisa has come about. But better.

We also saw the movie "Peter Pan" which was good, and sad and not at all kiddie, although Rich woulda liked a pirate song thrown in for good measure. It's always hard to watch a movie with children in it because I'm critical in seeing whether they stuck to their character or get a line wrong or off, or if the delivery is wrong, but this one was good. There was a tension between Peter and Wendy as well, and that was what it should be. Tension, mind you, not sexuality...which would have been gross, just tempered enough to make you smile, it was sweet. Reminds me of the quote, "better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all."

Good good good.

Have a good day all.
